OogieKwan Productions - "Providing Musical Solutions"
Oogie Kwan Productions has run sound engineering and live stages in Maine since 2009. The father-son team, sound engineers and musicians, Jim and Josiah Belt, have worked for events such as the Beer Fest at the Augusta Civic Center 2009, 2010. They ran sound for Cow Pasture Producitons; Open Sky events and MMCM and for three summer festivals each summer 2009, 2010 at Harry’s Hill in Starks, Maine.
Oogie Kwan Productions ran sound for several local bands including the State Street Traditional Jazz Band, Jerks of Grass, Mystic Vibes and Marion Grace. They have also run sound for solicited bands including: Girls, Guns and Glory; Buzz Universe and the Jerry Garcia Band. As musicians, their musical ear adds a quality to the sound engineering that musicians often find lacking in a sound crew. Josiah and Jim have created a great report’ with many local bands from Maine and Massachusetts.
Jim Belt studied at the Atlanta Institute of Music in Atlanta, Georgia. AIM is a well-known, jazz guitar school that boasts of professors such as Jimmy Herring (currently of Wide Spread Panic). After leaving AIM, Jim played music in a band called HOY. HOY played psychedelic rock all over Vermont including Nectar’s bar in Burlington. Jim is currently in a band called Lazzlo. Lazzlo plays Americana and country with a psychedelic rock vibe. They play locally in Portland, Maine and the surrounding area for public and private events. Recently, Lazzlo played Port City Music Hall in downtown Portland under the name Oogie James and the Satin Kings.
Josiah is enrolled at FullSail University for a bachelor’s degree in music and sound engineering. FullSail is one of the top entertainment industry colleges in the world. FullSail graduates have worked on recent films such as Avatar and continue to hold awards in their industry. Josiah will graduate from college next summer 2012 with a bachelor’s degree and courses in music production sound engineering, editing and digital technology and hands on experience with industry standards in technology software recording. Along with recording and sound engineering Josiah is an accomplished musician.
Jim’s vast, hands on, experience in live stage setup; multi-track recording and many years of writing and playing music along with Josiah’s state of the art technology and engineering degree gives Oogie Kwan Productions a combined industry knowledge and experience of more than twenty years.
